ALL THAT JAZZ
7th November -- Taking a chance alone, your truly went to watch CHICAGO THE MUSICAL. I've seen the movie and I've listened to the Broadway Tracks on AccuRadio Broadway. It was about time I watched the real deal - the musical that made waves.
It starts.
"Welcome. Ladies and Gentlemen, you are about to see a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery, and treachery - all those things we all hold near and dear to our hearts. Thank you."

Overall, the production brought over to KL was somewhat so-so and ok la. Beggars can't be choosers after all. If I can't make it to either West End in London, or Broadway in New York... sigh!... this just had to do.
The first act was a little draggy and a tiny bit dis-organized. When All That Jazz ended with Roxie shooting Fred Casely dead, it was not a smooth transition into the next number Funny Honey (Hubby Of Mine).
But the music number that I was REALLY REALLY WANTED to watch was the climatic Cell Block Tango. The tales of the Six Merry Murderesses, each telling their innocent tales of being led into criminal injustice.

Not only were these girls hot! They rocked the stage! Off course they didn't dress like these in KL. Oh no no no no no. Censorship Board's and Kementrian Kebudayaan's intervention. Enough said!

But even the censorship board could not take away the orignal lyrics and dialogues away. Only the dresses and dance moves.
Still, there were still some pretty alluring and kinky moves.
The dialogues were clear and funny! And everyone actually felt pity for poor Amos Hart, the unfortunate husband of Roxie. We even applauded for him when he made his exit. An exit without an exit-music number!
Act II was my personal favourite! Starting with I Know A Girl, continuing with Me And My Baby, etc. These two first songs were ommitted from the movie version and actually makes more sense if you listen to the lyrics.
The guy who played Billy Flint, $5,000 (1920's) Criminal-Justice lawyer, was not as exalting as the three leading ladies; Velma, Roxie and Matron "Mama" Morton.
So overall, I had a pretty amazing time watching Chicago... finally! Everything went well during the show, no faulty sound system, no flops in the dance moves.
But it could have been a whole lot better if it weren't shown in this country.
And all that Jazzzz....

NICKY KELAKAR
This my little cousin Greg, giving a live commentary on his brother's biking skills.
What I love most about this video is that a small boy shot it with a handphone, talks smoothly, adds his own sound effects... and laughs like a girl!

BLACK
I'm mourning for the All Blacks.
They lost 18-20 to the Les Blues in last night's Rugby World Cup match.
This is a sad, sad day for New Zealanders...

Ali Williams of New Zealand attempts to score a try only to be stopped by a last ditch tackle by Vincent Clerc of France during the Quarter Final of the Rugby World Cup 2007 match between New Zealand and France
Richie McCaw of New Zealand takes the high ball under pressure
Yannick Jauzion of France sprints for the line to score a try

The France players celebrate victory as Rodney So'oialo of New Zealand walks away dejected

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
jEn2cAm: it's noon now. I came back from the dentist's more than hour ago
jEn2cAm: but am feeling sucky
Ryesi1: feeling sick from the dentist? or are you not feeling well in general?
jEn2cAm: Since August, my lower-left wisdom tooth has been chipping off. So, I thought i get it extracted... it was practically erodding!
Ryesi1: ah
jEn2cAm: But the dentist decided to just cut off the top part off the molar (where it was breaking off) and fill the molar with cement (or something like tat)
jEn2cAm: But I was pretty ANNOYED with the dentist.Ryesi1: ouch, that sounds really painful!
Ryesi1: I would be annoyed too
jEn2cAm: She's a young doctor... with an attitude of an ignorant!
jEn2cAm: she didn't bother to tell me the procedure at all!!
jEn2cAm: So, i was wondering if they were gonna pull / cut the molar off
Ryesi1: she didnt' tell you at all?
Ryesi1: how rude!
jEn2cAm: when everything was done, I asked her what she did... and she still didn't bother to tell the 100% story!
jEn2cAm: so annoyed!!!
jEn2cAm: She came, she extracted.. and she said, "Pay up!"
jEn2cAm: I asked her if the root of the molar was effected (corrupted or anything)... and she was like, "Huh? What?"
jEn2cAm: So... I'm still lost at what's happened to my tooth
jEn2cAm: All i have now is a filled-in tooth.
jEn2cAm: THANK GOD there's no pain
Ryesi1: hopefully the root isn't affected
jEn2cAm: no toothache... just a broken tooth
jEn2cAm: too much ice creams, i think! ;P
Ryesi1: she done'st seem nice
jEn2cAm: yeah, i have no idea what her problem is!!
Ryesi1: are you still going to see her?
jEn2cAm: Nope!! No follow-up appointmentsjEn2cAm: I asked her, "What if the hole doesn't seal up?".... she says, "Come back again la!"...
jEn2cAm: ...In a rude way
jEn2cAm: I just didn't bother to ask any more questions!
jEn2cAm: and that's a young doctor...
jEn2cAm: *sigh*... did they forget to teach courtesy at her dentistry school??
jEn2cAm: Or did she just do the crash course!
Ryesi1: she seems quite full of herself
jEn2cAm: and the clinic wasn't even pack with people!
jEn2cAm: oh never mind!
jEn2cAm: maybe she's on her PMS days
Ryesi1: what does La mean?jEn2cAm: la is a slang.. a way of talking...
jEn2cAm: if i were to talk in a Malaysian slang... every sentence would end with la
jEn2cAm: it's kinda like, the British saying... "....., don't ya know?"
jEn2cAm: or Americans saying, " ....., duh!"
Ryesi1: brb
jEn2cAm: the rain in spain falls mainly on the plain (typed this for no real reason)
jEn2cAm: today.... I'm on leave (yay! for me)
jEn2cAm: but don't have any plans =(
jEn2cAm: am not going out =(
Ryesi1: that sounds more fun to say than my essays do....
Ryesi1: I'm working on secondary essays for med school
Ryesi1: they take forever
Ryesi1: and I have so many to do, and i'm behind on homework
Ryesi1: so it's been a crazy weekend
jEn2cAm: is there any way you can fit "the rain in spain..." in the essay?
Ryesi1: i wish!!
Ryesi1: hehe

WITHIN TEMPTATION - ANGELS
So, now that Evanescence is already old news, Within Temptation is in... for me la.
DESIDERIA & THE REBEL PRINCE
I watched this movie when I was a kid, on TV2. That time, this Italian film was dubbed into English. Basically, it's the tale of a princess who defies her cruel warlord-father and sets free a rebel prince. She falls in love with him and runs to his kingdom when her father decrees she marry a black-hearted knight.
When she does arrive at his kingdom, the people there recognize her as the enemy-king's precious daughter and bring her to the rebel prince. But the prince remembers her kindness when he was a prisoner and has grown to love her.
Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. In comes Desideria's sister (adopted sister, actually. The evil-king found her among wolves and thought, "this child must be strong & powerful to live among wolves!")
Raised by wolves, this sister is a sinister, scheming witch. She steals the rebel prince away from Desideria by casting a enchantment, that led the rebel prince to fight in a tournament for the evil sis' hand in marriage.
Desideria now has to disguise herself as a red knight, and ends up fighting the rebel prince in the tournament. She wins but is unable to kill her beloved. She runs away, ashamed. Meanwhile, the rebel prince (still under the enchantment) takes the evil sister to the altar and they almost get hitched... when Desideria marches in and stop the unholy union.
The evil sis is so mad, she brings a strom into the building. But in the end, her pride becomes her self-destruction and as she lies at the brink of death, she asks for Desideria's forgiveness. After all, they did grow up as sisters.
With her death, the rebel prince is free from the enchanment and he sees how much Desideria has done for the love of him. Feeling unworthy, he walks away to find himself. Later, he walks back to Desideria's arms, despite knowing he will face death because he is still in the evil king's kingdom.
It all ends happily ever after though. The evil king sees the error of his ways (only in movies!) and offers the rebel prince the unity of both kingdoms, and his daughter in marriage. As cliche as this story goes, I still love the storyline! I'd give anything to watch this movie again.
FYI, this movie was made from the same people that brought about those Fantaghiro movies a.k.a The Cave Of The Golden Rose.

You're the best!
