This story is not all that bad : there's no total nudity. But there are explicit lyrics. It's the only Broadway Sondtrack that has the "Parental Advisory / Explicit Content" label on the CD cover. Even RENT does not measure up to that extent. But seriously, the story makes sense and awakens the mind (and body) to what has been taboo in the past. Probably is still taboo in Asian-Traditional families.
I had check out Wikipedia for the whole story. Nothing amiss (expect for visual and audio, off course!), you'll get the entire storyline. Kudos to the Music & Lyrics Team of Spring Awakening, for updating the Wikipedia entry. Check out Spring Awakening - A New Musical .
The music, at first, sounded very classical and slow. That's just to give the 19th century German stage persona. But in between, comes songs of rock and roll... with amazing voices, rythms and beats. It's no wonder they won Best Musical and Best Original Score at the 2007 Tony's and The Outer Critics Circle Award.
Here's their performance, thanks to the Duncan Sheik who wrote the music for Spring Awakening. Well, no I didn't have to ask permission. All he did was post this on YouTube! Haha... don't you just LOVE the web.
Check out the choreography in this video, especially in "The Bitch of Living". Amazing!
